Round, In mounds, how do you prefer your fat?

When it comes to fatfur as a whole, it seems to me that there's two prominent school of thought when it comes to fat bodytypes! People like to explore and present with either:

A very rounded, filled out, somewhat spherical form. Lots of blaot, filling out as much space as possible, yet still mallowy soft and plenty mallebale. Like an overfilled pillow, almost!

-Or-

A very flabby, rolly, almost saggy shape. Gravid and spilling forth, drooping and pooling in thick mounds. Very much laden and draped in lard!

With this in mind, which do you prefer? Is there any reason you particularly resonate with one or the other?

For me, I dont have a particular preference and can see the beauty in both kinds of fat! But I will admit, I do get a big ol smile seeing those rounded forms, because IRL I have a VERY rounded out shape! So its like being seen in a way for me, I guess!

I'm all-in on rounder, toony shapes in my art! Timpani hits and all that.

I've always wondered what makes critters chose that preference! Is there any particular reason you can kinda trace back to preferring to see fat as more cartoonish n round?

I like ‘em rolly! At a certain point I imagine the overall shape would start becoming more spherical (in much the way a planet does, as gravity’s most favourite shape) but even then, gimmie great hills and valleys of fat to break up the surface!

This may sound like a cop-out, but I like both! Variety is the spice of most things, including fatfur. It depends on the character, what forms/shapes/textures are being emphasized...and if the artist just wants to mix it up a bit! That said, I do gravitate towards more rolly/saggy/drape-y shapes just cuz I like the sense of groundedness it can bring, how it can often be better at communicating heft and mass.

On account of cartoons, I'm sure! Plus having been into inflation first, so the priority is always awkward movement, flustering change to the body, and perhaps a bit of humiliating spectacle =w=

I don't think I have any particular preference when it comes to the shape.

Rolls and folds stacked up as a thick blubbery staircase for others to climb up are really great.
Huge rounded shape looming high, like being massively stuffed and bloated, is also really great.

I just enjoy growing so huge and enormous, I don't mind how I get filled or what general shape I grow into, heh.

Honestly, totally valid! I love enormity in just about every shape myself! Exploring it in every way possible, really growing into size in all directions (pun slightly intended!) is important to me! It's why when I was updating my fursona refs we played with shape language and different ways to have my sonas be permablobs while having their own unique presentations of it! I think that's why I'm so fascinated by critter's preferences, I love both schools of fat pretty equally and I find it interesting when someone has that specific pref!

big fan of most approaches to it, though there's a special place in my heart for heavy and pillowy-- really emphasises the sheer weight of it all, and you get a nice mix of thick, stacked rolls and comfy, plush expanses.

That tracks with what I've seen of your work, You do GRAVID yet soft and pillowy shapes so much justice! There's something really lovely about pancake paunch, fluffy and sprawling yet they look like you could just sink in a la memory foam...

I tend to like saggier and flabbier shapes! With cellulite and stretch marks too!
They look very weighty and pliable in a way that makes me wanna reach out and grab em!

Honestly I go back and forth on my preferences so much that it seems like a day-to-day thing. I guess the only thing that's super important is how the shapes interact and press against each other.

Big same! I appreciate inflation shapes, and I do like drawing them, but aesthetically I'm in the flab camp

I love a bit of flab, sag, and folds on a rounded form. Especially with stretch marks, I can't get enough of them.

Stretchies my beloved!! They're like a badge of honor, a testament to a frame well fed,, soft and easy to trace along,, they're really pretty!

I'm definitely more into ROUMD than flabby/folded fat, but I usually find a combination is the best of both worlds. +1 on stretch marks, they're great, I feel privileged to have so many on my belly
