Media (Image/Video) and you: best etiquette

Hey gang! It occurs to me that some critters around here might not be super familiar with forum posting, so! A quick primer on posting/hosting images, and how to best go about it!
If you're trying to share a youtube video, you can use the tag/flat screen display lookin icon at the top of your formatting box!
- You'll want to use the Image icon up top in the formatting options OR use the code [img]exampleurl.png[//img].
- Once you've got your code, you'll put your image URL in between the brackets.
- You want the direct link to the image itself to go between those brackets. The url should end with the file type such as .png or .gif otherwise it will not work. To obtain a direct link there are a number of websites one can use to generate one. I've taken up using imgbox.com but filegarden.com is one that I've seen floating around! Imgur also sure does exist but I reaaaaallly can't reccomend it all that much, lol
- DON'T upload the image to discord and use that url. Discord clears out their image files regularly, so while it may work short term some time down the road your image embed will break
- IF the image you're trying to embed is already on a Website, download or past it to a dedicated image hosting site, like the ones mentioned above. OTHERWISE, you're hotlinking!
