Musical Transients (a mashup album)

We here at the Bundle are a big fan of mashups: songs munged together with other songs to make new songs. For one, they're fun to listen to, and can be interesting ways to recontextualise a piece of music to give it new meaning.

Case in point:

I haven't implemented spoiler functionality yet, so I'm not going to describe the ending, but this album - this mashup album - is a journey. On the surface, it's just a bunch of silly, meme-y, mashups of various pop and rock songs. But dig a little deeper...

The final track of the album is itself a mashup of all of the previous tracks, and it recontextualises what the entire album is about. It's a goddamn work of art. It moved me enough to feel like I had to talk about it somewhere. Holy hot damn.
Just listened to this thing in full and holy fuck... I was picking up on some vibes from some of the lyrics here and there, but that finale track really just hits you like a semi.

There is still time. I have GOT to get more queer and weird and roundgender about it...

I dont acutally listen to much in the way of mashups so this was sonically a treat! At most I've listened to Neil Cicierega's Mouth Quadrology and a few one off tracks here and there, but I can see the appeal... and I think there's something very fun about such a transformative use of music like that! Reminds me of why I LOVE sampling and interpolation so much, being able to construct something new and beautful by springboarding off the feelings a piece creates in you is so awesome....
THIS is a certified deercowsheepie classic....
