Hey gang! It occurs to me that some critters around here might not be super familiar with forum posting, so! A quick primer on posting/hosting images, and how to best go about it!
• You'll want to use the Image icon up top in the formatting options OR use the code [img]exampleurl.png[//img].
• Once you've got your code, you'll put your image URL in between the brackets.
• You want the direct link to the image itself to go between those brackets. The url should end with the file type such as .png or .gif otherwise it will not work. To obtain a direct link there are a number of websites one can use to generate one. I've taken up using imgbox.com but filegarden.com is one that I've seen floating around! Imgur also sure does exist but I reaaaaallly can't reccomend it all that much, lol
• DON'T upload the image to discord and use that url. Discord clears out their image files regularly, so while it may work short term some time down the road your image embed will break
• IF the image you're trying to embed is already on a Website, download or past it to a dedicated image hosting site, like the ones mentioned above. OTHERWISE, you're hotlinking!
“Hotlinking” is the act of grabbing and embedding an image from elsewhere. Someone more technical is free to correct me If I'm giving a poor explanation but, essentially: Every time someone loads the page, the original site hosting the image will get a request to display that image. Naturally, this can cause bandwidth issues for the original site. For bigger sites like X this might not exactly matter buuuut for others it can hurt, so PLEASE dont go hotlinking poor furaffinity. they've already got enough goin on.

If you're trying to share a youtube video, you can use the tag/flat screen display lookin icon at the top of your formatting box!
